Weaning is going to be difficult

I want to stop pumping at work and just reduce breastfeeding to just 2 direct feeds a day – night & morning. So this weekend, i tried to feed Bryan formula during the day.

Response i get from Bryan – SHAKE HEAD, SHAKE HEAD, SHAKE HEAD

When he asked for nen-nen yesterday mid-morning (before his nap), i prepared 4 Oz of formula for him. The moment he tasted the fm, he pushed it away and shake his head.

So I let him play for a while. After a few minutes, i asked him

Me: Bryan, nen-nen?

Bryan: (Quickly crawl towards me)

Me: (Show bottle containing fm)

Bryan: Shake head and crawl away.

This morning, i prepared 2 Oz and asked hubby to try feed him.

Same results – SHAKE HEAD, SHAKE HEAD, SHAKE HEAD

Oh boy,…what am i going to do?

What I did to Ern was to feed the formula when she is extremely hungry. First few feedings were hard but now, she is coping well now (thank god!).

    Haha… Clever boy!!
Well, I think all breastfed baby is same –> Don’t like formula. Anne started to LOVE formula when I changed to the new formula I bought in Netherlands… Anyway, she only takes 4oz, 2 times per day. If I make more, she will definately take 4oz and left the extra I make… Want her drink more also cannot!

Shooi: I read your blog. Bryan hated the Naan HA 2 fm too :-D but was ok with the new formula we gave him. Problem is he refuse to take the bottle from me. I kinda expected it coz i have been direct feeding him all this while.

For weaning, you are supposed to mix bm (3/4) and formula (1/4) for first week, then reduce to bm (2/4) and formula (2/4) and so forth. From there, baby’s bud and tummy will adjust accordingly too to adapt formula as some baby is lactose intolerance which will result diarrhoea.

Shooi: Actually we have introduced formula for 1 feeding a day during my work week for a few weeks oredi. Now i want to increase to 2 feedings a day including weekends. I have not used the bottle to feed him for a VERY VERY long time and it is difficult for me to get him to accept the bottle from me.

Then daddy has to come to action liao. After 14 months, time for you to rest.

How i wish? When daddy comes, he will swat his daddy away, coz daddy got no nen-nen. hahaha

I have the same problem with Darrius… been pouring away unfinished FM the past few nights and now I almost give up. I practially have to squeeze the milk into his mouth… he just bite the teat and not sucking from it… damn chamz… :(

I think it may be easier to give fm during day than night. For me day already so susah, night cannot imagine. So once i accomplish day, i will start for night. Wish both of us luck ;-)
