Not English or Mandarin but Hokkien
February 1st, 2007 by Shooi
Almost everyone speaks Mandarin to Bryan - hubb, both sides of grandparents, all his aunts & uncles. Me - I try to speak mostly English to him but sometimes it is easy to be distracted and for me to speak Mandarin to him as well coz everyone is doing that.
But surprisingly Bryan is saying a lot of Hokkien words. None of us speak Hokkien to him but we do speak Hokkien to each other.
Among some of the Hokkien words he speaks:-
Boh - (no more) and he will open close his fingers (we taught him the sign for no more)
Ai - (want)
Ai Chiak - (want to eat)
Kia (Let’s go)

wahh where did he learn that from?
