Happy Birthday Ah-Chor

My aunt 5, or Bryan great aunt 5 organized a steamboat get together for my grandma, Bryan’s Ah-Chor during the Thaipusam holidays last Thursday.

It was Japanese style steamboat, with miso flavourings. Really yummy. Besides the usual steamboat fare, there were fresh crabs, all sorts of shell fish - the spiky ones, the round ones, clams, “ham” (kerang). I was terribly hungry when i arrived so i digged in and forgot all about photos.

She makes the best steamboat. My favourite is her hu-loh (fish steamboat).

After dinner, we had the cake cutting ceremony….chocolate brownie with baked cheese…really yummy. Bryan was salivating all over when grandma cut the cake.

Poh-poh wiping the saliva off Bryan

It was actually the first time for Bryan to taste cake that evening. I have kept his diet egg-white free until that evening. He loved the cake!

It was late by the time we cut the cake (as it is a school & work day the next day) but the cake was soo good, it kept everyone behind to enjoy it.

And while everyone continue to chat and enjoy the cake, Bryan was having fun poking at the live clams.

See la, this boy, way past his bedtime, and really sleepy liao, but still want to play.

We reached home slightly past 11pm. Changed him into his pyjamas, breastfed him, and he was asleep in no time. How I wish it is this easy to get him to sleep every night.

I have been very careful about items with egg-white until now. Bryan diden even get to eat his birthday cake.
