Starry starry dream

For the first time since Bryan was born, hubb and I managed to watch a movie undisturbed from beginning to finish. We watched Night at the Museum after we tucked Bryan to bed.

After we finished watching the movie, while I put away some things, hubb went to check on Bryan.

I heard a soft cry from Bryan’s room, so I went to peek at the door. I heard.

Bryan: Star, star (sitting up and pointing to the ceiling)
Hubb: “Star” your head la. Go back to sleep. (Gently push Bryan back to bed)
Bryan: Bye Bye (wave to the ceiling and lie down to sleep).

Bryan went back to sleep in no time. Sweet dreams. Sweet starry dreams.

Not So Happy Feet

Sis told me that Bryan is probably the only kid in the world who finds Happy Feet a not so happy watch.

She played the movie for him during the day today and Bryan was interested in the movie. Then after a few moments, there was a scene where the penguins traveled in the snow storm. I think he found it scary, and he started crying then.

Another 10 mins or so later, there was a scene where the baby penguin (I haven’t watched the movie so I don’t know the characters’ names) cried for his mother. And Bryan went, “Mama, mama” and started crying.

My family found his antics amusing and they continued playing the movie for a while. Sometimes even in the middle of a happy scene, Bryan’s face will suddenly turn sad, cry, and he’ll go, “Mama mama.”

Jasmine’s home!

Finally, baby Jasmine is going home.

Bryan was allowed to go home on Monday night, and initially we thought Jasmine would be allowed to go home on Tuesday morning – after her final dose of antibiotics.

Unfortunately, she developed fever and diarrhea on Tuesday. So the doctor asked for her to remain in the hospital for further observations.

Finally, today she is well, and the doctor allowed her to go home tonight.

Get well and strong, dear Jasmine.

Mama, mama

Sometimes I wonder how important I am to Bryan. When my parents are around, he almost never look for me. He is very comfortable under my parents care.

But when he was sick last week, it was “mama, mama” all the time.

At his ward floor’s nurse station, there was an “electronic fish aquarium.” He wanted to go out and see the “fishes” all the time. So he would keep asking us to take him out.

But if it were anyone other than me, a few moments after he left his room, he would go, “mama, mama” and demand to come back to me.

I can’t even go to the toilet to wash my hand. The moment I am out of his sight, it is “mama, mama.”

Suspected Cosackie for Bryan and Jasmine

Bryan & Jasmine at GMC
Bryan & Jasmine again :)
*Sigh* it has been pretty unlucky for the kids in my family last week.

First, my SIL’s 8 year old daughter Melannie fell sick on Saturday night/ Sunday. She had high fever and sore throat.

On Wednesday, both Bryan and Jasmine developed fever.

Mel, Bryan and Jasmine did meet up at MIL’s place on Saturday afternoon. And PD suspected that Mel may have passed the infection to the 2 smaller kids. But since Mel is a bigger kid, her illness is less severe and she recovered faster.

Bryan and Jasmine went to see the paed on Thursday and was admitted the same day for suspected Cosackie infection. We did not know about this until we met each other at the hospital.

The hospital had full occupancy the day we checked in. I checked Bryan in early and we managed to secure a private room at the adult ward floor at the 6th floor.

Jasmine was not so lucky. There were no more rooms available when she checked in. They had to wait quite a while for a room to be available, and then it was only a 3-bedded room, even though Jasmine mommy requested for a private room too. Jasmine was bedded on the 5th floor which is the children’s ward.

But since both kids had the same symptoms, the same blood results, same everything, we felt that it is safe for both kids to mingle around and share their toys.
Bryan & Jasmine playing

BIL joked that instead of the usual gathering at MIL’s place in the weekend, we gathered at the hospital instead.

Handphone = duck duck?

My hubby started this. When Bryan gets cranky in the car, he will turn on the MP3 player on his phone and let Bryan play with his phone. Usually, that will do the trick and Bryan will play happily with the phone for the rest of the journey.

Then, i dare not let Bryan play with mine, coz it is a flip phone and i was afraid Bryan will break it. Furthermore, when the flip is closed, there is nothing interesting and Bryan diden like it anyway.

Then about a month ago, i bought a new phone. It is a slide phone and the hp sellers downloaded a lot of MP3 songs in it for me.

Since it is now a slide phone, i figured that Bryan can play with it now, afterall the dial buttons are hidden.

So one day, i turned on the MP3 player for him. There is a Donald Duck singing “Deck the halls.” And Bryan loved it…

So i downloaded a few more kiddie songs for him. Now he doesn’t want his daddy’s phone anymore. Only mine. And he’ll go “Duck Duck” each time he’s in the car with me, when i am next to him, or whenever he sees my HP.

I was trying to video him walking around on Sunday at the mall and this is his reaction when he sees my HP.

Separation Anxiety? Definitely NOT

Usually, I will call my dad from my car, just as I am about to drive off to his place. Then my dad will meet us at the ground floor of the their apartment, so that I do not need to take Bryan up.

This morning, i only realized that my HP battery is flat when i am in the car. So I need to carry Bryan up to my mom’s house.

As soon as my parents open the door, he held out his hands to be carried.

After I passed him over, he actually proceeded to close the wooden door.

Dad: Whei, say bye-bye to mummy first.
Bryan: (leaned over to give me a kiss, with a “Kiss” sound), (then, proceed to close the door)

You say la, where got separation anxiety!

p/s: Pei Sze said that this is the difference between grandparents and babysitter. The lucky babies are the ones who do not feel any anxiety being separated from their mummies during the day.
