Sense of direction

One thing that Bryan had inherited from me was his sense of direction. I am pretty OK good with directions and I could read & draw maps quite well. Usually, actually ALWAYS – I am the one that will navigate hubb on how to get to a certain place whether when we are at our home state or when we are traveling in another state or country.
We realized that Bryan is pretty good at this too. He can recognize places and also sequence of events. For example, he knows that:-
- When we are traveling over the Relau hills, we will be on the way to my mother’s house. He will say “poh-poh†as we are coming down the hills.
- When we travel on the coastal highway to town, he will say, “Adjo, adjo†because that is the road we take to go to Tesco. Even if we do not turn into Tesco, he will be able to see Tesco from the car and he will say “Adjo, adjo†non stop.
- He seldom goes to my Aunt #5’s house. But one day, after we pick him up, we made a detour to my aunt’s place to pick up some things. He stayed in the car with hubb and he said “Po-po, Po-po†non stop in the car. He is suppose to call my aunt “Ee-po†(grandaunt) but usually he’ll just call “Po-Po.†Hubb is amazed that he knows that it is my aunt’s house and it was dark outside some more. Usually my mom will only take him there during the day and it is not that often even…Ermm…maybe only once a month or so.
- My MIL lives in a flat and parking is a problem near her flat. So usually we will park our car at the market/ food court’s car park and then walk to the flat,..a short 5 minutes walk or so. The moment, we turn into the car park, he say, “Ah-ma, Ah-ma …TAU!†(Grandma… already arrive.)
- When we passed by any coffee shop/ hawker center and if the car slows down, he say, “Mum-mum†because he thinks we are going to take him for food
