Sequencing skills

This is a follow on from previous post. I don’t know how to put it, but hubb calls it that Bryan can recognize sequence & patterns.

  • When he was 8 months or so, when we hum the first few note of the Blue Danube to him, he was able to continue the next few notes. At that time, he could not even talk yet.
  • Hubb also let Bryan play with his cell phone. Hubb would turn on the MP3 player and let Bryan play with it. After a while, Bryan will “sing” along with the Mp3 song and in fact “tell” us what song is coming up next.
  • He has a toy book which plays a different song at each page, when a certain icon is pressed or pushed. A few months ago, we realize that he knows which page has which song. We’ll ask him, “Where is Old Mcdonald…Ee Ya Ee Ya Oo”,..and Bryan will flip to the page and push the window there.

Now as we turn into the road leading to my mom’s place each morning, Bryan will say,

  • “Poh-Poh” (grandma)
  • “Ah-pau, loh ti” (because we’ll pass by a van selling bread)
  • “Pai-pai” (a Dato-Kong shrine by the side of the road)

Honestly, I am amazed he could see these things from his car seat. I never told him these things, so I wonder where he picked it up from. Maybe my mom when they take him out kai-kai in the mornings.
