Brand power

What do all these logos have in common? Bryan recognizes them and can say them, some in his baby talk ways, of course. And we didn’t even make any effort to teach him. We figured he must have learn them from the TV.

And his favourite brand is…..

Arrggh…how do they do it? Bryan is drawn to McD like magic. He can notice McD anywhere. Once we were walking on the ground floor at Queensbay mall, and Bryan started saying, “nanana” (sing song tone). There was no McD at sight.

Then I spotted a McD kiosk on the 4th floor.

If he spots a McD, he would demand that we go in. He doesn’t really want to eat the food. He just wants to be there. He’s happy to play with the empty wrappers, cups, sugar & cream packets, pamplets,…anything, as long as they have the M logo. In fact when we write M for him, he’ll instantly say “nanana.”

I guess this is really powerful brand marketing at work!

Tosai

I read that Hin-Lerk loves tosai. So last weekend, when we went to Pelita for breakfast, I decided to order 1 tosai for Bryan as well.

He seemed to like it as he finished half the tosai. At one point he even dipped his tosai into the dal curry while i was not looking.

What happened?? Cry la. :-D

It’s MINE!

Hubby brought an egg tart home yesterday. We did not eat it, so this morning i put it in the oven toaster. Baked it and then put it into a see-through tupperware for Bryan to take it to my mom’s place for breakfast.

He was so happy to see the egg tart.

Since he is so happy, I gave him the responsibility to carry the tupperware to the car.

You can see that he really treasured the egg tart. He held it in both hands and held it really tightly.

When we reached our apartment grounds, hubb picked Bryan up to take him to our car. I offered to carry the tupperware from him. Bryan refused immediately.

When we reached our car, hubb tried to take the tupperware away from Bryan so that he can put Bryan into the car seat and strap him up. Bryan said “MAI” (NO).

When hubb continued to try to take the tupperware away from him, Bryan got angry. And since he is holding the tupperware with both his hands, he cannot hit hubb with his hands. So Bryan use his head to give hubb a hard knock on the head. :-D

When we reached my mom’s place, Bryan said bye bye to us. When i asked him to give us a flying kiss, he just stared at the tupperware in his hand,…wondering how to do it without letting go of the tupperware.

You say this boy “tam chiak” or not…hahahaha

Yeah! New shoes

Bryan doesn’t ask for new shirts.
Bryan doesn’t ask for new pants.
Bryan asks for NEW SHOES all the time.

It is always, “Sie, sie,…Mai.” (Shoes, shoes, buy)

Since his sandals are getting too small, we bought a new pair from Tesco.

He was so happy when we pass the pair of sandals to him. He refused to put it in the trolley and prefer to hold on tight to it.

And he loved it cause it makes a very loud squeaking sound whenever he walks, runs/ jumps. In fact it was louder than his previous pairs of shoes. He loved the sound so much that he will “tap-dance” non stop for a while whenever we put it on for him.

Jap food @ Jap restaurant pls

We went to Sakae Sushi for dinner last Sunday. Earlier in the day, i had bought a Portugese egg tart for Bryan. He did not eat it, but since it is his favourite, i brought it to dinner as well.

As soon as we were seated, Bryan started to grab plates of sushi from the conveyor belt, saying, “mum, mum, mum, mum.”

I had to seat him away from the belt so that he does not upset the food.

I quickly took a plate and place Bryan’s egg tart on it.

To my surprise, Bryan said, “Mai (no), egg tart, mai.” *points towards the conveyor belt* “mum-mum.”

So i took a plate of unagi sushi from the belt and gave it to him. He did not waste any time to enjoy the plate of sushi. In fact, he polished the plate clean with very little help from us. He even tried to use the chopstick to eat his sushi. I also ordered a cup of cawan mushi for him, which he also polished clean.

Later I took another plate of crabstick sushi for him. He took a bite and spit it out. *this boy got expensive taste*

He did not touch his egg tart at all.

When he reach home later tonight, he remembered and asked for his egg tart, and he finished the whole egg tart with some milk.

See la this boy, can choose where to have his food sommo.

Skating, skidding & slipping

Bryan discovered a new game last weekend…Skating or skidding over slippery waxed surfaces, at the mall la.

We took him to Carrefour after lunch at Chai Leng park and he was having a ball skating/ skidding on the waxed flooring.

The sandals that he was wearing is not slippery but this boy still manage to make himself “slip.”

Later in the evening, we took him to Queensbay mall for dinner and there he goes, skating, skidding and slipping. *roll eyes*

First candy

Up till now, I do not let Bryan have any candy or chocolate. What he doesn’t know, he doesn’t miss.

His usual snacks are raisins, cranberries, HoneyStars, choc teddy cookies, cookies, and occasionally we will let him have ice cream. We have even let him finish a serving of longan jelly by himself.

BUT BUT BUT…Bryan has finally tasted his first chocolate candy.

Hubb spotted Milo Nuggets a couple of days ago and bought a pack to try. And he decided to share it with Bryan while I was busy with housework.

When i found out about it later…

Me: Whei, you let Bryan eat this?
Hubb: Cannot ah?
Me: Nobody feeds him candy. You just became the first.
Hubb: But he likes it wor….
Me: How many did he have?
Hubb: 5. *show innocent face* But he likes it wor….
Me: *slaps head*

P/S: If you have not tasted Milo Nuggets, it taste just like eating spoonfuls of Milo.

Language development chart

While i am catching up on blog, I caught this on WS’s blog. Since I was just doing the milestone update on Bryan, i tot of giving it a try…for fun.

Turns out that Bryan is slightly above average. At 21 months & 11 days, his development age is at 23 months. Try this for fun if you like at Lena. But remember that each child develops at different pace, and I read that Einstein was a slow talker. ;) .
