Last batch of diapers

This is the stash of diapers I washed last week, and I hope they are the last that I will wash for Bryan.

I normally wash Bryan’s laundry once or twice weekly. It turned to a daily affair when I started using cloth diapers 3 months ago. But about 1.5 month ago, it turned to a 3 times weekly affair when Bryan is toilet trained when he is awake after he turned 2.

And about a month ago, he stopped wetting his diapers even during his afternoon nap. And for the last few weeks, I have not had any soiled diapers over the night as well. Bryan would often wake us up in the middle of the night to pee. And if he doesn’t, there will be a lot of pee in the morning.

And this little boy tends to drink a lot of water right before he goes to sleep. He will get his 8 ounce of milk and he will go to bed with his water tumbler next to him. He has a habit of gulping down a lot of water before he is ready to fall asleep. So even though he empties his bladder before he sleeps, he will wake up in the middle of the night to pee. So we were a bit hesitant even though his record is getting pretty good.

But, we’ve got to start somewhere. So starting 2 weekends ago, I actually let him go diaperless during his afternoon nap – So far so good.

And since I am getting tired of washing clean dry diapers, I decided to not let him wear diapers. It is much more comfortable for him and more convenient for us to help him pee in the middle of the night anyway. Another reason, we were moving to our new house and we will be throwing Bryan’s existing mattress away. So if he does soil it…it doesn’t really matter.

So far, it has been almost 1 week of diaperless nights, and Bryan has a clean record every night!

The first night we stayed at our new house, we let him wear diapers. I was afraid that he may not be accustomed to the new environment. But he adjusted just fine and he was off diapers the 2nd night onwards.

I know some moms may be envious that Bryan can stay dry through the night but honestly, this is not something that I had planned to happen. It just happens! I do not have any toilet training recipe. The kid will let us know when he is ready. My mom tried to train him from a young age, and it was a frustrating time for her. I tell my mom to just give it up and let him wear diapers. Less stress on him and on us also. And suddenly one day, he seems ready to be toilet trained.

So here’s for the record - Bryan is officially off diapers, day and night, at 26 months old!

In fact, I had secretly hoped that he will pee in his diapers so that he can sleep through the night. Now, neither he nor we sleep through the night because he needs to pee.

I guess moms are a hard to please group *chuckle*

So you have…let’s see…about 1.5 months or so of non-diaper washing! Enjoy it while you can!

Shooi: Am enjoying every moment of it.

Clever boy!! Charlotte is diaperless during the day but she always “filled” her diaper through the night. I wonder if I let her go diaperless at night would she be able to wake us up to pee? Should I try?? :p

Shooi: you better wait until she has a few dry nights before going diaperless at night. Otherwise, you will end up with a wet bed and more work.

I also put Ryan’s toilet training on KIV. Put him on a potty he cannot pee.. put him on adult toilet, he’s not comfy. Really ‘char po’. Follow your method.. wait and let them signal ‘READY’ to us… :D

Shooi: ya, no need to rush and cause unnecessary stress for u and Ryan.
