If Bryan loves it, so do we…

I am constantly amazed at how much my life is dictated by Bryan since I became a mother.

I was never a fan of TGI Fridays, at least the outlet in Penang. Most of my friends do not really like it also.

Anyway, last Saturday, we were at Queensbay Mall. We initially wanted to have lunch at another restaurant but the restaurants do not have any baby chairs. There were a lot of people at the mall and so we just hop over to TGI because we noticed that they have empty tables when we passed by there earlier.

So we hopped in and ordered a 3 course meal (1 appetizer + 1 entrée + 1 dessert) . Neither hubb and I was really hungry that day and we think that the meal is more than enough to be shared between us. I ordered the kids spaghetti for Bryan because I cooked spaghetti for him a couple days ago and he loves it. I asked him if he wants spaghetti again, and he said “Yes.”

We were a bit disappointed when we got in, because the staff told us that they were out of baby chairs at the moment. But hubb and I were lazy to look for another place to eat, so we thought we will just stay put and hope that one will be available soon.

We let Bryan sit on the regular chair. And not long after that, he tells us that he needs to “pangsai” (pass motion). I was thinking to myself where is the nearest toilet, when Bryan slides himself off the chair and walks towards the kitchen, beckoning his dad to come along. Then only I remembered, there is a toilet at TGIF. I have forgotten all about it as the last time we were there were months ago. I am surprised Bryan remembers.

His food arrived shortly after Bryan returns from his “business” and I started feeding him. Next to our table, was a toddler sleeping in his stroller. Bryan was intrigued by him and wanted to get closer but luckily he stayed away when I told him that “koko” is sleeping and he should not disturb ko-ko. As Bryan was not seated in a baby chair, he had the freedom to slide up and down the regular adult chair and walked around. Luckily he stayed close all the time and would come back to get a bite regularly. So feeding him was a breeze even though he was mobile.

Soon he finished his spaghetti and still our entrée has not arrived. Service was very slow that day and the staff knew about it. So they surprised us with a complimentary bowl of wild mushroom soup. The soup was great and not long after that a baby chair is available. So, we seat Bryan in the chair and gave him the remaining soup for him to self feed. He loved it tremendously, and ate every single piece of mushroom available as well.

So when our entrée came, both hubb and I could eat in peace as Bryan was busy with the mushroom soup.

After we finished the entrée, Bryan tells us that he needs to pee now…(That’s how long we were in the restaurant). So hubb took him to pee and I asked the waitress to bring us our dessert.

Needless to say, Bryan shared our dessert – Chocolate Mud Cake as well when he returned. Both hubb and I found the mud cake a little too sweet and the portion huge even for 2 of us. But Bryan does not seem to mind…

Just look at the smile of satisfaction on his face!

The smile is more than enough to make our dining experience a happy one….(even though service was slow!)

Later, not sure if it was the caffeine or the sugar in the mud cake, Bryan was indeed more hyperactive. At one time, he was shaking his head and stomping his feet around , and he tells us that he was dancing! Hmm… we definitely would not order that dessert to share with Bryan the next time.
