Mid Autumn Lantern Festival
September 16th, 2008 by Shooi
We normally go to MIL for dinner on Saturdays. But last Saturday, we changed it into lunch so that the kids can stay at home to play with lanterns. There are a lot of kids around Bryan’s age staying near our house. So it will be very lau-juak (merry) if all the kids come out to play.
Unfortunately, it rained. So there were no kids playing outside. But we still let Bryan played at the porch.
We had bought a pack of Disney paper lanterns for him. Actually I wanted to buy the regular traditional lanterns nia..but Bryan spotted this pack and insisted that we buy this instead.
Guess, which lantern design he spotted, and which one is his favorite? Look carefully…

You’re right, the Disney Princess lantern. Actually he was attracted by Snow White, one of his fav Disney character.

Ok la. To be fair, he also played with the Mickey Mouse lantern.

This is actually the first year that we let Bryan play with the candle type lanterns. Both hubb and I have always preferred these to the electronic ones. We purposely select the bigger ones so that there are less chances of it catching fire.
Yup, so even though Bryan was swinging his lanterns around, it did not catch fire.

Dylan, meanwhile is too young to play with candles and lanterns. But we hang a few lantern around our porch and he was contented to see the lit up lanterns swaying about in the wind. His big kor-kor also help to entertain him from time to time.

The weather was better on Sunday night – which is the official Mid-Autumn festival night. And my neighbor’s kids come out to play that night.
Dylan, being the youngest kid on the block was an instant hit with my neighbor’s kids. In fact, I think all of them knew my kiddo’s names, while I am still struggling to remember theirs. *shame on me*

The lantern celebration at my old apartment have always been merry with lots of kids playing at the garden. I am glad to see that the lantern celebration at my new house is equally as merry.

We took the boys for a walk around the neighborhood. The weather was cool and comfy, so comfy for Dylan that he dozes off not long after we walked around.

Some of the latterns are pretty. We didn’t even get to light the lattern we bought for Belle.
We did not get any new lanterns for Darrius this year and I did not even managed to find his old ones! So basically no Mid Autumn for us… after all, everyone was so sick!
From here can see Bryan really look like you!
Dylan is so antao!!!
