We took the boys to the pool yesterday. I have started to swim regularly again recently and want to bring my boys back into the waters.

Initially the idea started when I heard that my BIL condo’s tenant had moved out and I suggested that we go to the condo for a swim. My SIL was also excited over the idea and wanted to bring her children along too. It would be a fun time for the children.

Bryan had not swim much since we moved to a house. The last time he swum was more than a year ago at a hotel, and he was terrified of the water there. I have no idea why because he had always loved the pool since he was a baby.

Anyway, I told him about the swimming plans and he was excited. He says,
“I want to swim like a fish.”

So I bought new floats for Bryan, as Dylan will be inheriting Bryan’s old smaller floats.

Later I learn that my MIL din have the new keys to the condo. The other in laws have helped to changed the locks when the tenants moved out and have yet to pass a set to us. My BIL is in Singapore but he is very lucky to have his in-laws to help him with the affairs related to the condo.

Though we can’t go to the condo. I still want to take the boys for a swim! And I think it is about time Dylan goes to the pool too.

So we went to PISA swimming pool.

Bryan was very excited when he saw the pool, and did not waste any time jumping into the pool with the float. Soon he was kicking his way around in deeper waters.

Dylan on the other hand was terrified. This is his first experience with the swimming pool… Our miniature pool at home don’t count.

He held on tightly to my husband and screamed, “PU YAU PU YAU PU YAU” when hubb tried to put him inside the water. A lady at the side of the pool laughed at him.

So I asked hubb to pass Dylan to me. And I carried him and walked around the pool so that he can see his brother playing in the water. I started out at the very shallow end where the water is below my knew. So I held Dylan up high without letting him touch the water.

Then I go into a deeper section where the water is now up to his knee level. I asked Bryan to continue to play with him to get Dylan comfortable.

I just continued this process until the water is now up to his chest level. All the while I held him close tightly to me.

Not long after, Dylan got relaxed. And soon Bryan and him were splashing water on each other. Water got into Dylan’s eyes, nose and mouth, but still he splashed sommo, having fun!

First he had one hand extended out to splash the water, then both hands were extended out to splash.

Noticing how comfortable he is getting, I tried to turn him around for him to face the water instead of me…He yelled, “PUYAU!”….Oooopss..not ready yet.

He also didn’t want Daddy to carry him… I supposed he felt safer with me….Errrr..that makes a lot of sense since Daddy can’t swim.

We spent close to an hour in the pool and Bryan was reluctant to leave. He didn’t want to leave until we promised that we will be back again.

Sure darling…we’ll go to Seh Chik’s condo next week ok!

P/S: No photos as both mommy & daddy is in the water taking care of the kids. Also I am afraid to leave my camera at the public swimming pool area. Hopefully will be able to take some photos when we go to the condo for a swim..coz MOMMY JUST BOUGHT A NEW LENSE AND FLASH!!!!!!!! Yippeeee!!!!!

I borrowed the Carl Zeiss – Vario-Sonnar T* DT 16-80 F3.5-4.5 lens from my friend last week. And with a new lense, I need to find photo opportunities. Since I don’t have time to go out to find photo opportunities, I have to create one at home.

So I bought Bryan a pool!

Actually he already have one for his birthday present last year. But it was HUGE! 6ft diameter. It is way too big for him & Dylan, and will use a LOT of water. So I got him a smaller one, conserve water a bit la…

Bryan was very excited about the pool and patiently waits for me to fill up the pool. But what does he do when the water is ready?

Play teh-tarik… BORING-NYA.

Coincidentally, I had made a huge bottle of yogurt for my friend. She bought a new milk powder for her daughter WX which WX absolutely refused to drink. So I offered to make yogurt for her using the “rejected” milk powder, and she’ll come to my house to collect the yogurt.

I was back at the kitchen cooking lunch when I could hear my husband yelling for me. I peeked outside and I saw WX jumping up and down outside my gate. Surprise surprise, she came at the right time. I had smsed my fren earlier telling her that I will have the pool out in the morning, but did not get any reply if she is coming or not.

And see how happy Bryan is to see WX.

Both of them are classmates, so they have no problem playing with each other.

You may wonder where Dylan is the entire time. Well, he doesn’t really like the pool.

I think he is really uncomfortable in the pool. So not long after WX arrived, hubb took Dylan out and took him upstairs for a bath.

And the 2 schoolmates continued to have a splashing good time.

I am really proud of both of them. They played really well together. No fighting. And they took turns to play with the giant teapot (my watering can la).

Now, I can’t wait for Dylan to be old enough to join his ge-ge for some good & fun splashing around.

This is a backdated post.

Went to Adventist with my friend to pick up our health screening report. Her husband, mine and Bryan came along as we do not expect our doctor’s appointment to take long and we plan to have breakfast together later.

After our doctor’s appointment, we went to Chung Hwa @ Midlands for dim sum breakfast, and proceeded to shopping at Gurney Plaza. (since Queensbay just opened, we figured that Gurney will be quite empty, and it is *he*he*)

Bryan was so excited with the Xmas deco there…the colorful baubles, balloons and stuff that it was so difficult to get him to nap. And he missed his morning nap, so he’ll get really cranky if he doesn’t sleep. Luckily in the end he did nap, for about 1 hour, while we had a late & light lunch at Dome.

Bought a new pair of floats at Parkson and we got home about 430pm. Breastfed him and tried to get him to nap. He wasn’t interested. So what shall we do?

Let’s go swimming again…with the new floats.

Results….

Bryan was not afraid of the water at all. The moment I let go of him, he kicked and waved his hands gleefully. This time, he even knew how to hold up his chin and to keep his mouth closed, as he bobbed up and down in water. But of course, he still did get a few mouthfuls of water in his mouth…I don’t want to think what’s in the pool water. I just hoped that the chorine will kill whatever bacteria in there.Hubby used the wrong setting on this photo, and it turned out blue…

After a few rounds of kicking around, when I tried to hold him close, he even push me away. He allowed me to gently support him and guide him as he floats but he refuse to let me hold him close.

The water, again was cold. In fact, I was feeling cold, but this boy did not seem to feel it.

As usual, when take him out from the pool, he wailed loudly and caught everyone’s attention at the pool.

The direction of the sun has changed and I found that the pool is shaded at 4pm onwards. (I think it’s earlier, but I haven’t the time to confirm). So decided to take Bryan swimming on Saturday, after a long stop.

My sis bought a pair of upper arm floats for Bryan a few month ago. They were really cute with Twetty Bird, Slyvester the Cat & Bugs Bunny design. I have not let Bryan use it before as they were quite big for his arms.

But now, I think they are the right size, and they are.

We went at about 430pm, and the water was quite cold, plus there is cool wind blowing. But surprisingly Bryan was not scared at all. In fact, the moment his feet touched the water, he wants to go in immediately.

But unfortunately, the “air stopper” pops up when we are in the water, so I dared not let go of him even when we are in the water.

And this naughty boy wanted to taste the swimming pool water, and kept opening his mouth. When I said “No”, he giggled cheekily.

Went round the pool a few times, but since the water is cold, we did not want to stay long. But the moment we pulled Bryan up, he wailed and struggled to get free. He was so funny that the security guard laughed at him, “Dia nak mandi lagi la…kakakakak”

Swim photos? Watch out for my next swim post!

It has been more than 3 months (i think) since I last took Bryan for a swim. The last time I took him swimming was in May 06, that’s when he was 6 mths old. I then stopped because
1. heard that there are Cosackie cases in Penang
2. weather has not been good – i only take Bryan swimming if the weather is hot, so that the water is warm after the sun has set. Normally we’ll go swimming around 6pm.

Today, he was such a well behave boy. I went for a facial with my friend, and left Bryan under his daddy’s care. He was haing his morning nap when I left. When he woke up, his daddy fed him porridge for lunch and then both of them just had fun playing. No tantrums, no crying at all. I am so proud of both of them.

So because he was such a good boy, and the sun was rather warm, i decided to take him swimming at our apt pool in the evening.

Boy of boy, he was scare of the water when we first went in. He held on to me really tightly. This was a sharp contrast to our experience 3 mths ago, where he kicked the water gleefully the moment he went into the water. There was no fear of the water at all then.

I guess he has lost his natural swimming reflex and is starting to develop fear.

It took him a few minutes before he relaxed a bit and held out one arm to bat the water. Slowly his legs kicked a bit but one hand still held on to my swim costume tightly. Refuse to let go.

After about 10 mins, only did he fully relax, started to enjoy the water and waved happily to his daddy who was recording the experience on our new handycam. Although he did kicked the water ala froggie style, his kicks were not as graceful & smooth as the ones when he was 6 mths old. I do have a tinge of regret that i did not take him swimming consistently. But then again, his health is more important than his ability to “swim”

By the time we took him out of the water, he was very comfy with the environment and thus protested with a struggle and some cries.

It’s ok baby, if the weather is good next weekend, we’ll come again.
