Where’s my brother?

Yesterday, in the middle of the night, Bryan woke me up
Bryan: MOMMY! Didi is GONE! *I can see panic in his face*

Dylan is a very “mobile” sleeper lately, and he has wedged himself so close to me that I had to sleep sideways to give him more room. And Bryan could not see Dylan because Dylan was too close to me.

Me: Nah…Didi is here la…

Bryan: Oh * Goes back to sleep*

That’s how close both the brothers are. They will look for each other before they sleep and first thing when they wake up. Correction :- First thing when they wake up is MOMMY. Second thing is their gege or didi.

Brother in command

The main power to our DVD player is switched off most of the time cause that is the only way to keep Bryan off the TV. We don’t subscribe to Astro kiddie channels, so no DVD means no TV for Bryan.

I’ve had it off for several weeks now. But i bought 2 new DVDs for him last week, so i switched it on for him during the weekend.

Bryan is very happy to see that DVD “got battery already” and will help himself to his DVDs. He knows how to find his own DVD, put into the player, switch the TV to DVD mode, turn up (always up, never down) the volume, play, repeat, stop, etc the DVD show. When bored, take out & change DVD or CD.

We already got no energy to stop him from doing all that himself. So we let him do what he wants. And oh yeah, he does cause a lot of scratches to the discs. But wateve la, if they are spoilt, then no need to watch liao lo. And he understands that he is the one who damaged it.

Anyway, yesterday, he was watching DVD with Dylan nearby.Dylan crawled over, took the remote and press press press. The the DVD setting screen came up and interrupted Bryan’s viewing.

Bryan: Mommy, u see didi. Cannot watch oredi.
Mummy: Oh i donno. Spoil oredi. Cannot watch oredi.
Bryan: Mommy do, mommy do. (means repair)
Mummy: Mummy donno. *walks away*
Bryan: *take remote, press press press*
DVD resumes playing normally
Bryan: *talks to Dylan* You see, ok already. Cannot press anymore ok. U press, I will beat you, you know.

Sleep buddy

Such a big bed and yet both of them tend to roll to the same spot when they sleep. I put a bolster between Bryan and Dylan. But nowadays one of them will roll over

to the other side to sleep with each other. In the above pic, Bryan has rolled over to Dylan’s slide and is using the bolster as the pillow.

I have woken up in the middle of the night realizing that Dylan is missing, only to find Dylan at the other side next to Bryan.

Usually Bryan will be cranky when we wake him up in the morning. But if the first thing he sees when he wakes up is Dylan – he will be all SMILES.

Ain’t it good to have a brother to sleep with :-)

Mommy’s note: We’ve really come a long way from the time Bryan used to be jealous of Dylan. I used to wonder if “today” will ever come. I am really proud of the way things have turned out for the brothers, and how they are loving each other more and more each day.

Buddy bros

Last week, Bryan was watching TV and Dylan were sitting on my dad’s lap in the opposite armchair. Dylan started “calling” out to his big bro Bryan. Bryan was so engrossed with his TV show that he ignored his little bro.

Dylan kept calling and calling to Bryan. We can tell that he was getting “angry” for not getting Bryan’s attn. So dad moved Dy to sit next to Bry. Then baru he is happy.

Hopefully the brothers’ relationship will continue to get better and better as they grow.

P/S: On another note, yesterday night, Dylan was playing with his (previously Bryan’s) electronic book. Press press then got sound & light…Then Bryan snatched it from him. Then Dylan cry la…Looks like the brotherly fights will begin soon….

Big Brother

This has got to be one of the happiest things a mommy can hope for – to see the kids get along well.

Bryan is extremely protective of Dylan. He wouldn’t let anyone that he doesn’t know to carry his didi. My aunt came to visit me a couple of weeks back. And of course my aunt wants to carry Dylan. I was at the back of the house doing laundry at that time, and Bryan ran to me and asked me to carry Dylan. I told him that it is ok to let my aunt carry Dylan, but he insisted that I carry D instead.

Sometimes, some of my relatives will joke to Bryan that they want to take D home with them. Wrong move! If Bryan hears that, Bryan will refuse to let them carry Dylan. Not just for that day, but next time in the future as well. Bryan will be very wary of them and do not allow them to carry D.

When Dylan cries, Bryan will ask me to quickly carry Dylan. If I have carried Dylan and Dylan still cry, Bryan will ask me to bf Dylan. Hehehe..even Bryan realized that bf is soothing & comforting to Dylan. Bryan will even tell Dylan, “Didi pu yau ku. Mommy kei ni he nen-nen.” (Didi don’t cry. Mommy will let u drink milk).

Dylan sleeps with Bryan nowadays. Sometimes when I am tucking Bryan to bed and he is still too playful, I will threaten not to let Dylan sleep with him. Or I will threaten that if he still don’t go to sleep, so & so will come take didi away to sleep with them. These threats will usually do the trick to get Bryan to go to sleep.

Bryan doesn’t mind sharing his toys with Dylan. In fact, he will gladly share his toys with Dylan whenever we asked him to. Right now, Dylan will just hold the toy and wave it about. We’ll have to wait and see if Bryan is still this generous when Dylan can really play with the toys.

Bryan was really cooperative at dinner yesterday and we managed to snap a nice photo of us together.
