Bryan was fully potty trained including nights not long after he turned 2. I did not expect him to be so “independent” as we only started potty training after he turned 2. So our potty training period was actually very short.
I thought Bryan was an exception and he was considered very advance. So I do not expect the same from Dylan.
Dylan started to sleep without diapers last week at school. And through the recent long weekend, his afternoon naps were dry too. *great job Dylan*
And this morning, he woke up with a dry diaper too! Hubb was very surprised when he changed him this morning as his diaper was so light! He thought that I had just changed his diaper.
Is this an indication that he will also be “fast” like his gege? I don’t know but we are not going to pressure him. He is not even 2 yet! I am already very proud of the fact that he can stay dry through afternoon naps and that we can take him kai-kai diaperless, so anything more is a BIG BONUS!
Dylan has been telling us when he wants to pee. Not 100% of the time, but at least a couple of times a day. And if we take him to the toilet immediately when he tells us, he’ll definitely pee into the toilet. So i guess he is showing readiness to be toilet trained.
It is very troublesome to take him to the toilet. We have to take off his pants, then his diapers..and we have to do it FAST! As when he wants to pee, he wants to pee NOW.
So today, my parents have decided to just let him go diaperless – when he is awake. They take him to the toilet every half hour or when Dylan tells them.
Accidents? Yeah, I think there was one at my parents house. Dylan was too engrossed in playing until he forgot to tell. He only told my parents after he had pee-ed. He pointed to the spot and said, “Ek-ek” (dirty).
We took him home diaperless in the car and my mom reminded me to take him to the toilet as soon as we got home.
But we forgot
. I was rushing to settle a few chores before my night tcon. And Dylan pee-ed in the middle of the living room…
*luckily it is not on my sofa* Both Dylan and Bryan was busy fighting over a new toy that we had just bought for them. So I guess Dylan forgot about telling us.
So Dylan officially starts toilet training when he is 1 year 6 mths and 2 days old. Hope we can get him toilet trained by the time he starts day care end of this year. Then I won’t have to worry about how to manage the cloth diapers at the day care.
Just now, Dylan struggled & protested when hubb was trying to change Dylan’s diaper after his afternoon nap.
He wriggled here and there and yelled…”Siau Pien!” (wee wee).
So hubb took him to the toilet and sure enough, he peed into the toilet bowl.
After that Dylan cooperatively let hubb put on his diaper for him.
Looks like my boy is really ready for toilet training..
